Coldwater Branch Parking Lot

IMG_0075 Construction has begun on the parking lot at the Coldwater Branch. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this repair was long overdue. Depending on the weather, construction could last a couple of weeks.

Building Has Begun!

Public Notice

SEPTEMBER 23, 2010
6:00 P.M.
3rd Floor Board Meeting Room
10 East Chicago Street
Coldwater, MI 49036

On September 23, 2010 at 6 p.m., the Branch District Library Board will hold a special meeting for the purpose of considering a change to the Library's Plan of Service, originally adopted when the District Library was created in 1991. The change would grant the library branches the opportunity to expend funds currently set aside for capital improvements for other branch library needs such as programming, additional materials, increased staffing, or additional hours, all subject to District Library Board approval.

County, City, Village, and Township representatives, library patrons, and other interested persons are all invited to review the proposed change at Coldwater Headquarters, any branch, or at testing.branchdistrictlibrary.org/plan_of_service_proposal. The entire Plan of Service is also available at testing.branchdistrictlibrary.org/plan_of_service.

The District Library Board will receive oral and written comment from all interested persons regarding the proposed change to the Plan of Service at the meeting on September 23. Those submitting oral comment on that date should try to limit their remarks to 5 minutes each. Persons may also submit written comment at the circulation desk at Coldwater headquarters, at any branch, or at testing.branchdistrictlibrary.org/suggestion_box. Before September 23, questions regarding the proposed change to the Plan of Service should be directed to Library Director Bruce Mills or Assistant Director John Rucker. District Library Board members also will be available at the September 23 meeting to answer questions.

All comments must be received no later than Friday, October 1, 2010 at 5 p.m. After considering all comments, the District Library Board will vote on the proposed change to the Plan of Service at its regular monthly board meeting on Monday, October 18, 2010, at 6 p.m. in the Board meeting room at the Coldwater headquarters of the Library.

Damaged Items from the Library

Image: Cracked Disc

Is that book you just checked out torn or missing a page? Does the movie you just got skip or stop playing? Is your book on CD missing a disc?

Please don't just return the items to us without saying anything. With over 100,000 items, we can't catch all the problems without your help!

A new service is coming to our library, as Amanda Yearling heads the Young Adult section at the Coldwater branch.

I plan to create many fun and interesting teen programs that will be more geared towards 13-18 year olds. There is already some things in the works. There is a new Anime/Manga Club that will be meeting monthly starting July 15th. We will meet every third Thursday at Coldwater's third floor meeting room. The summer meetings will be 2-4pm and we will be watching various Anime and talking about our favorite Manga. If you have never read Manga or watched Anime, but would still be interested in learning more about it, please feel free to come and join the fun.

There will be more postings as more fun events are planned. Also if you're on Facebook, we now have a page where teens can get the latest and greatest info on all the up coming events.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions please feel free to email me. Or pop me a message on our Facebook page. We'd love to hear from you!
