The Governor's Executive Orders permit library staff to return to our buildings soon to prepare for public services again! Monday, June 8, we will move to Stage 3 of our reopening plan. Staff will return to our branches to go through all the checklists of everything necessary to ready our facilities after months of closure.

Monday, June 15 we will move to Stage 4 of our plan and begin curbside pickup. Details about that will be posted next week.

COVID-19 Reopening Policy and Plan

Classification:
Coronavirus

As we're all aware by now, our library has been closed since March as part of the State of Michigan's COVID-19 MI Safe Start Plan. The numbers for Michigan are improving and, while we're not out of the woods yet we are optimistic that more facets of life will be returning to normal soon.

To that end, the BDL Board of Trustees has approved a Reopening Policy and Plan. Here's the overview for what you can expect as we move forward (click to enlarge):

As of today—Friday, May 29—BDL is still required to stay closed to the public under the Executive Orders that are in effect. As soon as the stay-at-home orders are lifted, we can get staff back into our branches to get ready for serving the public again. If the current order doesn't change, staff could be back in the library getting ready for you in just a couple more weeks.

BDL will continue to update our coronavirus page with the current stage of our reopening status, and as soon as we are able to serve the public again we'll get the word out here, on social media, in the local press, and more.

We look forward to seeing you again in person as soon as we can! Until then, please continue to enjoy all that our "digital branch" has to offer. We are putting on regular video programs on our website and on Facebook, and have much to offer with all of our digital downloads options.

Be safe and be well!
