Coldwater Kids' Place Open Again

Branch:
Coldwater

We're still not finished in Kids' Place--the new furniture hasn't all arrived, for starters--but we are ready enough to open the room for business again. And just in time for Summer reading registration, which starts today!

We'll have an open house in August, so stay tuned for more information.

Coldwater Kids' Place Closed for remodelling

Branch:
Coldwater

We've finally begun the renovation of Kids' Place at the Coldwater Branch! We'll be painting, getting new carpet, and rearranging. This process will take 2-3 weeks. During this time, Kids' Place will be closed.

We apologize for this inconvenience. There will be a selection of children's books downstairs at the circulation desk for you to browse during this time.

Unfortunately, most of our books will be in boxes for the duration of the remodeling and won't be available. Holds placed on Coldwater branch Children's books may take a very long time to be filled.

Swine Flu

Branch:
District

You might have heard recently in the news about the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico and the risk of it spreading. Avoid some of the 24-hour news channel hype and make sure you read the very informative web page from the Center for Disease Control: "Swine Flu and You".

Here's a map, showing the location of the suspected and confirmed cases.

From the CDC:

What should I do to keep from getting the flu?
First and most important: wash your hands. Try to stay in good general health. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food. Try not touch surfaces that may be contaminated with the flu virus. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

New Plan for Capital Improvement Budget

Branch:
District

Since the beginning of our library district in 1992, we have always "set aside" 1/7 of our tax revenues for capital improvement projects that might be needed at our various locations.

Over the years, we have had to make changes to the amount directed to individual library branches versus the funds retained for district use (such as implementing a district-wide library circulation system).
