Annual Combined Friends Meeting

The meeting will be on Tuesday, April 17th at 5:30 p.m. To be held at the Coldwater Branch in the Ralph and Helen Kerr Leisure Reading area.

Announcing Our iPod Audiobook Service

We're pleased to announce our new program where you can checkout audiobook titles for your iPod player. If you don't have a player, you can check out one from the library.

Color Printing at all Library Branches

We're happy to announce that all Branch District Library Branches now have color laser printers available for our patrons to use. Color prints will cost 25¢ per page, black and white prints are still 15¢ You'll get black and white prints by default, unless you choose the color printer when you print your document. Ask any library staff for details.

Gates Foundation Grants New Computers

2007-01-08 16-37-38The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation recently donated new computers to the library. We received 27 new Dell computers that were split among all the library branches. The computers are all in place now and soon we should be getting updated software as well, including the latest version of the Microsoft Office Suite. Once the software arrives, we'll test it, then get everything installed later this year.

One Book, One County

The book for this year's One Book, One County series is How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent, by Julia Alvarez. This is a book about 4 sisters from the Dominican Republic who emigrated to the United States.

Some of the themes in this book that we'll explore are food, family relationships, learning English, and integration into American culture.
